  • 1 in 5 of awarded degrees is a mathematics, science or technology degree

    In 2017, 19% of the total number of the degrees awarded by higher education institutions in the Flemish Community were mathematics, science or technology degrees. This share remained fairly stable between 2015 and 2017. 

  • Flanders performs poorly by international standards for degrees in mathematics, science and technology

    With 19% of degrees in mathematics, science and technology, Flanders performed rather poorly in comparison with the rest of Europe in 2017. Germany achieved 36%. But Sweden, Finland, the United Kingdom and France too scored more than 25% degrees in mathematics, science and technology. With 17%, Belgium and the Netherlands did worse than Flanders.
